Choosing what comes after high school can feel overwhelming for both students and their families. With so many post-secondary options available, including university, college, apprenticeships, and the workforce, it can be difficult to know where to begin or how to choose the path that truly fits.
My name is Ashley and I am currently a teacher with the Upper Grand District School Board. I was born and raised in Dufferin County, and I am passionate about supporting students as they explore their future pathways. In addition to my work in schools, I founded Mono Roots Educational Counselling to help students and families navigate these important decisions with clarity and confidence.
I understand that every student is unique. My approach focuses on getting to know each individual; their strengths, interests, goals, and challenges in order to help identify pathways that are both realistic and meaningful. Whether your child is just beginning to explore options, feeling uncertain, or reconsidering a decision, personalized guidance can make the process much more manageable.
With nearly 20 years of experience in the secondary school system, and currently serving as a Department Head of Guidance, I have supported many students and families through course selection, pathway planning, and post-secondary applications. My background includes a degree in Sociology, as well as specialist qualifications in Special Education and Guidance Counselling. This experience allows me to support a wide range of learners at different stages of their journey.

Who Can Benefit?
Mono Roots Educational Counselling was created to guide students and young adults who feel uncertain about their next steps - whether they're exploring their post secondary options for the first time or seeking a new path after realizing a change is needed.

1. Initial Consultation (1-1.5 hours)
2. Two Comprehensive Assessments. 3. Follow-Up Meeting (1 hour) to Review Results. 4. Optional Additional Session for in-depth pathway planning. |
Assessments Used
CDI - The Career Directions Inventory
A 30-45 minute, 100-triad career interest assessment designed for students and adults to explore career options. JVIS - The Jackson Vocational Interest Survey A 45 minute, 289-pair forced choice career assessment designed to measure career interests to match students and adults with suitable occupations and post-secondary (university/college) majors. |
